Beads in a Bowl
It’s so interesting how instances like the one we’re about to discuss occur and again, the joy that comes from designing and making jewelry.
Working in the studio the other day, I came across an array of different colored beads and placed them in a bowl to begin my process - one which can’t be exactly be defined since it is a mixture of the day’s emotions and how each element speaks to me. That discussion however, is for another time, but is introduced in my first blog, Stick Pearls that Speak: Read Here.
The bowl, filled with these vibrant and rich colors, was radiating a brightness that suggests SUMMERTIME! The colors would go with absolutely everything. I felt compelled and therefore, it was destiny.
Every gal needs something this fun and exciting to wear.
I decided to use a lovely, yet time consuming, pattern I have used in the past, the Kumihimo weave.
During creation of this piece, a pattern awakens as you continue to weave the strands together. The beads began to make their own design, at least for this particular piece - a bracelet.
As I looked down I noticed it was almost complete and destined to be crafted into the most delightful bracelet. I added the silver cuffs as they made the colors pop just a bit more and then a black magnet balls to clasp it all together. Pure beauty!
As I always do after I finish a piece, I put it on my self to secure a perfect fit.
That evening, I showcased this lovely little bracelet and in seconds, a friend’s eyes caught a reflection of colorful light, beaming from my wrist. The bracelet was like honey to a bee and my friend was buzzing to get ahold of it.
Smitten, she was. “Please, Lee”, she said.
“Of course”, I replied and placed what had started as a bowl of beads, and clasped it upon her wrist.
